[Tatsuzo Shimaoka] Taisho 8-2007 (1919-2007) 88 years old Born in Tokyo.
Origin: My father is Yonekichi Shimaoka, a braid master.
He graduated from the Ceramics Department of Tokyo Institute of Technology.
After the war, he introduced to Shoji Hamada.
In 1954, he built a kiln in Mashiko Town.
Received the Tochigi Prefecture Person of Cultural Merit in 1980.
In 1996, he was certified as a national important intangible cultural property holder (Jomon inlay).
In 1999, he received the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays. He teaches, lectures and holds solo exhibitions around the world.
