He exhibited works such as “Springing Women” at the Venice Biennale, an international contemporary art exhibition, and was the first Japanese artist to win an international print award.

Shiko Munakata established a unique two-dimensional composition and created works using a technique called urasaiki, in which colors are added from the back of the printing block.

In addition, he met Soetsu Yanagi, discovered his talent, and utilized the "beauty of use" of everyday life and daily necessities in the "folk art movement" (prospectus for establishing the Japan Folk Art Museum). We are also deepening exchanges with potters of the movement to do.
